Canon Sherlock Holmes Comic Books
Dan Day created a unique form of Comic Books: Printing selected text from the canon stories and illustrating the rest to convey the story. No text “bubbles” were ever used.
Twenty comic books were published in total. Each issue had a full color cover while the interior illustrations were in black and white.
Another notable aspect: Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson and nearly every other character was portrayed by those who started in Holmes films and radio series.
Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce were used most often as Holmes and Watson.
The original run of fiftteen was published bi-monthly in 1988 by Renegade Press. The remaining five issues were published by Northstar.
